ConKerr Cancer Pajama Party
by Nova Sankofa
Friday, March 21, from 6-9 pm, children of all ages (both with and without illness) and their loved ones are welcome to attend ConKerr Cancer’s Pajama Party at the Please Touch Museum! During the PJ party, you are invited to tour the entire museum, ride the carousel, dance with the DJ, swoop, and enjoy Rita’s Water Ice! Other activities included are the Zoo on Wheels from the Philadelphia Zoo, face painting, and sewing. This event will benefit chronically ill children and their families.
ConKerr Cancer began in 2002, when Cindy Kerr's son was diagnosed with cancer. Cindy made his hospital room livelier by furnishing it with beautiful pillowcases she made herself, to his pleasure. Pretty soon, she was making pillowcases for the other children in the Oncology Unit at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Since then, the pillowcase project, A Case for Smiles, has provided over 860,000 pillowcases to children in hospitals throughout the country with the help of thousands of volunteers from around the world. Organizations of all kinds are involved when it comes to creating and supplying pillowcases for the children.
If you'd like to enjoy a great event for all while helping others, come on out to the Pajama Party! Visit http://www.conkerrcancer.org for tickets and details.
