Atlantic City Fashion Week 2017
by Bryan Carter
Founded in 2011, Atlantic City Fashion Week is a bi-annual fashion event presented in part by fashionSTYLE Magazine and KingBee Media, which brings thousands of attendees of all ages for 3 days of fashion and innovation. Since its conception, fashion enthusiast from New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. converge on one area to showcase ready to wear on Friday’s and couture on Saturday’s of ACFW. Typically ACFW follows a Thursday student showcase, Friday’s Ready to Wear and Saturday’s Couture show accompanied by various pre-networking events known to rival NYC, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks.
One of the most notable things about ACFW is its diversity and ability to bring people of all ages. During season 7 of ACFW, South Asia was the inspiration behind many of the pieces created, bringing Indian and Pakistani designers to the forefront.

ACFW introduced their 3rd year of student panel discussions focusing on talent retention in the southern NJ area. This year’s panelist included Destinee Cushing, Jaime Hannigan, Tina Gilliam, Lloyd Crawford, Jermaine Pratt, and Angela Perymon. The panelist from varying backgrounds of the fashion industry (modeling, photography, cosmetology, and journalism) offered their insight about the job titles in the industry, opportunities in the area and how they can achieve their goals without having to move to Philadelphia and NY for work.
Notable attendees of ACFW Season 10 include Philadelphia’s own Legrand Leseur showcasing his men’s wear during the Couture showcase, Designer Clavon Leonard showing attendees his luxury suit line with special guest model New York Giants linebacker Jonathon Casillis. Latasha Henderson-Robinson (Project Runway) will also show her collection along with seasoned fashion photographer K/D/Morris, who’s followed their evolution since the conception of Atlantic City Fashion Week.
