Main Course Philadelphia Reviews YBM’s Newest Release
by Ossiana Tepfenhart

Young Business Minded

YBM, also known as Young Business Minded, is a rap duo composed of Southern rappers by the names of Reecialago and Efficial. Though not Philly natives, we can definitely say they have the rap skills of a local while maintaining a clearly Cali touch to their beats. And, their album just dropped. We decided to take a look at their new single, “I Do.”

Efficial’s “I Do” begins slowly, taking classic Cali cues from the likes of Snoop in terms of beat. Once the beat actually drops, YBM’s Southern influences quickly show their face with forceful words, a heaping helping of word play, and a surprising amount of emotion in each lyric spit. Saying that it’s catchy is a bit of an understatement. This is the kind of rap song that you could easily see in a strip club simply because of how danceable the beat is.

The lyrics are really what impressed me.

“I Do” is all about what a person has to do in order to keep up with the demands of networking, with life, and with all the demands of being successful. It’s about knowing how to treat people with the respect that they deserve, knowing people who can help you out every step of the way, and also knowing how to deal. It’s about knowing someone for everything, and it’s also about keeping things run like a tight ship. For a person who’s interested in becoming a business owner, or even for someone who just loves the hustle, it’s an anthem to be reckoned with.

Having listened to their music, I have no doubt in my mind that YBM is going to make it big really soon. And, when they come to Philadelphia, you can bet that I will be seeing them in concert!
