The Film and Theatre Exchange Networking Event

“We do this event to bring all artist in The Philadelphia area together in hopes of more work in our city. We recently had an event on June 22nd with over 400 guests attending and we held our first-ever monologue slam.” – John Mitchell

Spear headed by John Mitchell, Renee Ungrue Carrillo and co-hosted by Kenneth John McGregor, the Film and Theatre Exchange Networking event brings out rising stars hidden within Philadelphia. As this was Main Course PHL’s first time experiencing such an event, we were not surprised to see the faces of actors, directors and industry enthusiasts beaming as they greeted one another. This evening we were in for a treat. It just so happens this was the night John and his team held their first ever monologue slam along with the premiere of SKIN, a short film by our city’s own 14 year old director Aniya Wolfe. These two announcements were not the only thing taking place. Roz Fulton, seasoned veteran of fashion and film, brought in the evening with the celebration of her 65th birthday.

The event started out with everyone taking pictures at the step and repeat, and catching up while the cool cats sat at the bar – a typical flavor, yet nothing short of spectacular. If you didn’t know anyone, it didn’t matter. All you needed to do was note the person’s style and you would not forget who was the one rocking the outfit. Listen, we’re talking suits, blazers, elegant dresses and even a few attendees reminding us that pirates existed at some point in time. In a way, everyone was a character, but possibly themselves at the same time.

To kick things off, the monologue slam took place on stage outside the Xfinity Live venue. The slammers for the evening included:
Dave Ferrier
Wayne Shearer
Shelby Posting
Gabe Brandi’s
Charmaine Warrington
Maria Jefferson
Jeff Alpert
Robert Broths Blaze Murray
Kent Garden
Jacob Shapiro
Mary krzynonos
Maggie Shirk Sokolowski
Bobby B
Shyra Goodwin

Additional short films shown during the evening:
Ally Marshall – 3 Minutes
Mike Stewart – Mr Blueshirt
Natalie Pagano – Breakin Balls
Rodney King – Emergency Landing
Stevie Jordan – Live Squad
Prime Angel – Michael A Journey Within

Don’t miss out on their next event August 10, 2016!
